Mario’s Musings (Quarantine Edition): Hunters
Following up High Castle, I decided to jump into Jordan Peele’s Hunters, starring Al Pacino and Logan Lerman, because apparently I didn’t get enough Nazis after four seasons. But hey, they at least put a somewhat superhero spin on it.
Mario's Musings (Quarantine Edition): The Man in the High Castle
I discovered The Man in the High Castle by accident. I was randomly browsing through a Cracked article about little things that would have completely changed the course of history. The subject of FDR’s attempted assassination was one of them, and the Philip K. Dick novel was referenced as a “what if” scenario of what the world would be like if the assassination was successful.
Mario’s Musings: The Outsider
Lately, HBO has been running the occasional limited series where the storyline wraps itself up in one season. True Detective has been doing it, with a new cast taking over each season, as well as Watchmen, which I recently reviewed, only lasting for one season (for now). And now we can add The Outsider to the list. Based on the recent Stephen King novel of the same name, The Outsider follows Detective Ralph Anderson’s quest to solve the murder of young Frankie Peterson, whose killer was apparently two places at once.
Mario’s Musings: Dispatches From Elsewhere
A lot of stuff is filmed in Philadelphia, but nothing ever seems to actually take place in Philadelphia, unless M. Night Shyamalan is filming it. Limitless was filmed here and then we had to pretend the film took place in New York. But then, Jason Segel came to Philly and seemed to fall in love with the city, which brings us to Dispatches From Elsewhere.
